Setup Instructions

Apple TV, 4th generation

With the 4th generation Apple TV and later, you can connect natively to the Apple TV using the SketchParty TV “Display” app, available on the Apple TV App Store.

  1. Open the App Store on your Apple TV

Using the remote, open the App Store app.

Don't have Apple TV yet? Visit Apple.com to purchase.

  2. Search for SketchParty TV

Enter the text “SketchParty TV“ in the search field. Though, it should come up after the first five letters or so.

  3. Open SketchParty TV

Open the app on your Apple TV. You should see a button on your device in the SketchParty TV app that says Join Game. Press this button and begin!

Note: If you do not see the Connect button on your device and the app is running on your Apple TV, please try AirPlay Mirroring OR check your local network privacy settings. In your iPhone or iPad's Settings app, go to Privacy > Local Network and verify that the switch next to SketchParty is toggled to ON.

AirPlay Mirroring

You can also connect using AirPlay Mirroring on the Apple TV (4th generation and earlier). And if you can use peer-to-peer AirPlay, your device and Apple TV won't even need to be on the same network.

  1. Connect Apple TV to your HDTV

If you haven't already done so, connect your Apple TV to your television.

Don't have an Apple TV yet? Visit Apple.com to purchase.

  2. Open Control Center

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center.

  3. Enable AirPlay Mirroring

Tap the AirPlay button and select your Apple TV from the list. Slide the Mirroring on/off toggle to ON.

Note: you may need to scroll the list to see the Mirroring toggle.

Troubleshooting

Having issues? Please try the following suggestions.

Can't connect more than one iPad or iPhone? If you're trying to connect more than one device to the native Apple TV app, please note: SketchParty TV is a pass-and-play game, and only supports using one iPad or iPhone.

Issues with AirPlay Mirroring? Please visit Apple's troubleshooting page for AirPlay Mirroring.

Audio but no video? Please ensure the AirPlay Mirroring switch is set to On (green).

Note: You may need to scroll the AirPlay destination list to see the Mirroring toggle. It will be just below the destination you choose (typically named "Apple TV" in the list).

App crashes? If the app crashes, please opt to let it send crash reports for analysis. The app will prompt to do this on the next launch after a crash.
